Building Breasythings.com: behind the scenes

After a few months of intense website overhauling, I finally shared this space with my friends and followers! I’ve been nervous throughout the process because I hold myself to high standards, and I want my work to reflect that. I’ve also been excited, because from the beginning, all I’ve wanted to do is share who I am and what I do with people who care.

In the first few hours, my site had over 40 new hits. This means people care, they’re curious, and the link is working. Most importantly, my new site is officially in motion. This post is a look behind the scenes at my process, the challenges I faced along the way, and what I’ve learned from it all.

I acquired my domain name way back in 2017 through GoDaddy. I officially had a working website when I assumed my business name in 2022. It was simple and hosted on Wix. After a couple of years, I decided it was time for an update.

I renewed my plan and started rebuilding in Wix Studio, and I was loving the progress. Then Wix told me no. Because my plan was originally under Wix Editor, I wasn’t allowed to transfer anything. Getting this fixed through customer service was a struggle, and after weeks of frustration, I filed a chargeback through my credit card. I was told I wouldn’t know the result for three weeks, so I started rebuilding again in the old Editor, assuming I’d be stuck for another few months. Two weeks into rebuilding, I received the refund—and Wix immediately canceled everything. If you’re counting, this meant I was entering round three of building BreasyThings.com. I was exhausted and ready to give up. I dealt with broken pages, memory errors, mismatched layouts, and endless revisions, but I kept going because my site deserved to reflect my skills and personality. I spent a lot of time refining pages, making sure things worked across platforms, and learning the CMS. I know this process will make me a better web builder overall. Eventually, I reached a point where I had a clear, functioning flow. Not perfect, but solid enough to share. I decided it was time to go live. I’m still polishing a few pages, but here’s what you’ll see updated in the next few weeks: the In-Stock Product Page, Graphic Design Downloads, Online Hoodie Bar, and my Portfolio Page.

I’m also excited to share that this process will tie into the Social Media Marketing class I’ll be teaching this spring! Kankakee Community College invited me to develop and instruct this brand-new course, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. There’s something really interesting about growth: when all the right ingredients line up, that’s when momentum truly happens. This website rebuild, the pivots, learning curves, small wins, and frustrations, has become part of a bigger picture. What I’ve been building isn’t just a website. It’s a living example of the exact strategies I’ll be teaching.

This experience has taught me real-world skills like responding to user feedback, creating strong calls-to-action, designing for mobile versus desktop, posting updates intentionally, and using analytics to track growth. I can’t wait to bring all of this directly into the classroom.

I invite you to follow along as I continue shaping this space. I’ll be sharing updates, insights, and more behind-the-scenes moments as I keep building. This journey has reminded me that growth is messy, unpredictable, and sometimes frustrating but every pivot, error, and small victory is part of a bigger picture. To everyone who has already shown support, thank you! It truly makes all of my energy and effort worth it. And for those just joining, I hope this gives you a glimpse into what goes into building a brand, a website, and a business with heart. Here’s to keeping the momentum, learning along the way, and sharing the process with all of you!
